I normally never do this, but I love Hilton hotels, especially Doubletree and I feel like it should be known that this is gotta be the worst Doubletree that *** ever stayed at this hotel was absolutely disgusting the room I was putting in felt more like a motel six than it did a Doubletree definitely not what I was expecting from a hotel right next-door to the *** nor what I would expect from a Hilton hotel as a Hilton honors member you adding the price that I paid for the hotel itself plus the price of valet, and I feel like Ive been all around, robbed.

The furniture had multiple visible bodily fluid stains. The balcony looks like its never been cleaned and is in desperate need of a pressure washing the toilet, barely flushes.

The bathtub is dingy and brown at the bottom. The toilet paper roll holder is broken and the toilet paper continues to fall on the floor and the room had an odd smell to it.

This is without a doubt the worst hotel Ive ever stayed in

Their rates online vary from $89 to $133/night. That’s not expensive.

You expect a hotel next to a *mall* to be nice?

You must not be familiar with the Houston galleria that’s not just any mall that’s the biggest most expensive mall in the city if not the state with millions flowing through it daily not some country bumpkin mall. Joey uptown, nobu, Louis V, Gucci, channel, Zara etc this ain’t no basic forever 21 or Nike kind of mall it absolutely should be beyond nice

It was my mom's 60th birthday, and all she wanted was to go to a hotel by the water with a pool. So we booked the Doubletree in Port Huron, and the pool is closed.

I know some things are unavoidable, but it just sucks. The restaurant was overcrowded.

Happy 4th of July. My mom was so sad.

Pros:
  • Nice clean rooms
Cons:
  • No pool available and overcrowded restaurant almost 2 hrs to eat

Be careful buying plane tickets from reseller, agency…

Updated by user Feb 23, 2026

There is no experience yet, I received no response, there was a weekend and most probably they did not work

Original review Feb 20, 2026
Good afternoon,
I am writing regarding a reservation for a flight and hotel package booked through the Turkish Airlines Vacations website for travel departing February 14.
I previously used this website in June 2025 without any issues. Unfortunately, this time only 23 days before departure we realized that my wife's passport expires in mid-April. We were informed that she would not be allowed to board the flight or would be returned to ***, as her passport did not meet the six-month validity requirement.
I immediately attempted to resolve the situation by requesting that our flights and hotel stay be moved forward by 48 weeks, once her new passport arrives. My wife has a medical condition that requires treatment by a physician in *** who has treated her successfully in the past, which is the primary reason for our travel.
Turkish Airlines was very understanding and kindly issued us a credit for the flights, for which I am sincerely grateful.
Unfortunately, we were not able to receive any assistance regarding the hotel reservation at the *** DoubleTree by ***. We were informed that the booking was made through an agent, despite the website prominently displaying the Turkish Airlines Vacations logo. Only after payment did we receive the terms and conditions, which stated that the reservation was non-refundable and non-changeable. We later learned that the agency is based in ***, ***.
I contacted the agency three times and was told repeatedly that nothing could be done. As a result, over $2,000 was lost, despite our request being only to move the stay not to cancel it. This was especially disappointing, as we specifically chose this 5-star hotel for its excellent service, breakfast, and location just a three-minute walk from my wife's doctor's office.
Given the medical nature of our travel, the extremely short notice, and the lack of transparency regarding the booking terms prior to payment, I respectfully request your assistance in reviewing this case. A credit or date change for the hotel stay would be deeply appreciated and would demonstrate the level of customer care we have previously experienced.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
Kind regards,
Loss:
$2000
Pros:
  • Excellent quality 5 star hotel
Cons:
  • Nonsense excuse to move stab by 4-8 weeks forward

Preferred solution: allow credit so I can stay in this hotel in April or May 2026

User's recommendation: check all terms carefully or in case of change you will be ripped off by agency

We are at the DoubleTree in New Orleans on Canal St. We checked in on Saturday, August 16.

We were in room 822; the air unit sounded like a washing machine, and the refrigerator leaked. Sunday, I kept hearing noises and realized on Tuesday we had mice in our room. We have pictures of the mice droppings. They chewed through some of our plastic bags and left mice droppings all on the counter.

They moved us from 822 to 1410; the toilet was messed up in 1410, which was going to take longer to repair. They moved us again to 427, which they didn’t tell us was a handicap room. That room had cabinets hanging off the hinges. We are about to move again to room 1411, and management only wants to comp us for one night, two free breakfasts for one day, and 10 thousand points.

Unacceptable. I don’t think the trouble we are experiencing should only be comped for one night.

We always stay at this DoubleTree when we visit New Orleans. Thank you for listening.

Pros:
  • Friendly staff
  • Pricing
  • Decent rooms
Cons:
  • Management does not listen to customers concerns
  • Needs upgrades

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: I don’t have a bad recommendation as long as your customers are your number one priority! I feel like my business don’t matter, I don’t matter.

  • - Check-in staff were wonderful; Danielle was knowledgeable.
  • - Cleanliness and noise issues, plus fluctuating parking fees, affected the stay.
Updated by user Apr 19, 2025

Completely ignored, sent an email they will respond in 3 days and basically apologized for the conditions of the establishment and they will address the issues with hotel staff... no refund, considering I wait 3 nights , trusting everyday something will be done about because had a extraordinary customer service by Danielle when I check in and very kind housekeeping lady. I slept with one blanket I ran out and bought at Walmart the next day and bought clean pillow case and sheet to put on the bed because there linen smelled so bad, I could not handled it one more night

Original review Apr 15, 2025

I had a very mixed experience during my 4-night stay. To begin on a positive note, the staff at check-in were absolutely wonderful.

Danielle assisted me and was exceptionally well-groomed, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The hotel manager on duty also went out of their way to assist me, especially after my flight was canceled and I arrived late for check-in. Their kindness and professionalism were truly appreciated during a stressful travel day.

Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the hotel left much to be desired. From the moment I arrived, there was a noticeable lack of cleanliness.

Garbage and dirty dishes remained in the hallways for extended periods throughout my stay. The sheets in my room had a strong odor of unwashed sweat. Although the housekeeping staff worked very hard and showed care and concern, they were clearly limited by the tools and resources available to them. One housekeeper explained that the laundry was outsourced to a third party and they were short on clean linens.

We had to resort to smelling pillowcases to find a clean one, but all had the same unpleasant odor. I wasn't the only guest to raise this concern.

The hotel restaurant was a highlight on the first nightgreat food and amazing service. However, when I returned on Sunday evening at 5pm, the atmosphere had drastically changed. The music in the hotel and restaurant was so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation or even place an order.

Despite being the only guest in the restaurant, the bartender continuously changed the TV channels, even though it was obvious I was watching the news (or trying to read the captions due to the music volume). The waiter, who was excellent, even mentioned the volume to the bartender, but nothing was done. The environment was so uncomfortable that I had to abandon my meal and wine and return to my room.

To add to the noise, as I passed the front desk, I witnessed what appeared to be the male manager and two front desk staff yellingwhether playfully or notit was loud enough to be disruptive and inappropriate for a hotel setting.

On top of all this, the parking rate seemed to fluctuate each night. I was charged $16, then $20, and finally $26 on my last night with no clear explanation for the change.

In conclusion, while there were moments of excellent customer service from individuals like Danielle and the housekeeping staff, the overall experience was disappointing.

The lack of cleanliness, inconsistent service, and chaotic atmosphere overshadowed the positives. Due to these issues, I chose to extend my stay elsewhere with a different hotel chain for the remainder of my trip

Horrendous customer service

AI Highlights
  • - Key left at desk; staff said there was no key.
  • - My name appeared in the book, contradicting the no-key claim.
  • - They didn't verify and kept me waiting.

My gf stayed at the hotel on Sunday, June 15th. She left a key for me at the desk table.

I arrived at 4 PM and told them my name, which is also my gf's name who booked the room. They said there was no key. Confused, I called my gf and texted her twice with no response. I then asked the desk lady if she could call the room because she said she left the key.

They did call her, and she answered. She had left a key, and it was right there. I said, 'So it was right there.' They said, 'Oh, that was a different shift, and the card had no name.' My gf said the host that left the key told her to write my name in the book. When I got the card, my name was in the book.

So someone is not being honest. They didn't take the time to look and had me standing there like a damn fool, as if I didn't know what I was talking about. That was a lame excuse, blaming the earlier shift. Either way, the prior shift should have made them aware, given that the card was there, even if they didn't tell them about the card.

It was right there had they taken the time to verify and call the room. I had to ask them.

If my gf hadn't answered, they would have just had me standing there all night. Awesome customer service.

Even the Hilton part of the sign is broken. Not a good look for Hilton.

Complaints

AI Highlights
  • - Stayed at Double Tree in Columbus, Georgia; incidental fees were not disclosed at check-in.
  • - Garland advised taking concerns to the general manager.

I work as a Travel Agent, As an agent one of the most crucial things we are told is to always explain all charges. I checked into Double Tree in Columbus, Georgia.

While your confirmation does say that a fee for incidentals may be charged. At no time is that fee ever disclosed. Nor was it ever disclosed @ the time of check in. I also see that there is a fee for breakfast @ this location.

Again, other than being listed on the website. At no point was this ever mentioned, nor was I ever asked if I would like to have breakfast.

Not disclosing all charges is simply bad practice. This is not how we treat our clients. All fees are disclosed in full so that there is no surprise when they check in.

In addition the gentleman working this morning advised me that I could take my 'gripes and complaints' to his general manager.

Yes, I have serious concerns in the fact that the total of fees are not being disclosed. But to address my concerns as 'gripes' is very unprofessional. Guests can have concerns.

But as a professional, you never address them as 'gripes or complaints'. The gentlemans (and I use that word loosely after the way I have been treated this morning) was Garland.

Preferred solution: Apology

User's recommendation: I would never recommend the Double Tree in Columbus GA, Nor would I ever recommend Double Tree. As a travel agent we are taught to always disclose any and all fees.

  • - Door needed a hard push to open; sink clogged; staffer urinated.
  • - Privacy tag issues and cleaning delays; fire alarm; lost $300 earrings; no callback.

1. I had to push on the door handle really hard to open it.

2. The sink was clogged up; the maintenance man came to fix it while we were at breakfast, and our son came back to the room and caught him urinating in our toilet.

3. We didn't want our room cleaned the first day, so we let housekeeping know, which wasn't a problem. We later found out that a letter is given when you don't want your room cleaned.

4. The next day, we took the privacy tag off of our door so the room could be cleaned before we went to my aunt's funeral. When we came back later that afternoon, housekeeping told us our room wasn't cleaned because the privacy tag was hanging outside the door. We asked if it could still be cleaned, and they said yes. Two hours later, the room was still dirty, and housekeeping was in the same room they were in when we left. They put us in another room, but the TV didn't work and the fridge didn't close. The maintenance guy didn't show up to fix this problem. After an hour, they put us back in the unclean room. I helped them out by putting the dirty towels and washcloths in the bin. When housekeeping saw this, she rushed to our room. I told her I would help. I took our linen off of the bed. She said, 'It's okay, I got it.'

5. Later that night, the fire alarm went off around 9:30 to 10 PM. We sat outside for about an hour and a half to two hours until that was cleared up.

6. In the process of my stay, I lost a pair of $300 earrings. I left them on the sink in our room, and I asked the manager from housekeeping to call me back if anyone had found or seen them. I never even got a call back.

Hi, we just spent the night for the Cleveland Browns NFL game. The cost was more than tripled, $384 USD. We had 2 queen beds for 2 people. The shower was broken. There was no hot water. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all empty. The tiles behind the toilet were broken. Both chairs in the room were so filthy we couldn't even sit on them. The fridge didn't work.

The parking garage elevators didn't work (which was inconvenient with luggage), it was $30 and we had to climb 5 flights of stairs with our luggage. The men's washroom in the lobby was out of order and the women's had 3 out of 5 stalls out of order.

I would appreciate a refund of at least the cost of doubling the price for a football game. A regular night is $118. We paid $384-$44 for breakfast (which was terrible due to the minimal selection and self-serve). We were overcharged by $220. It was 3x the price.

It was absolute robbery when the conditions were not as promised on your website. I can send you pictures of the chairs. I'm sure I won't be the only one complaining. It's not a good way to promote your hotels.

Thank you.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent stay at the DoubleTree in Decatur, Alabama. I paid over $500 for my room, expecting a comfortable and clean experience.

Instead, I encountered bugs crawling in the room, which is completely unacceptable for any hotellet alone one under the Hilton brand. I have both videos and photos documenting the issue.

Being overcharged to sleep with bugs is beyond frustrating. I expect a high level of cleanliness and professionalism, especially at this price point. No guest should ever have to deal with this.

This experience has left me questioning the managements commitment to quality and hygiene.

I hope management takes this issue seriously and addresses it immediately.

I also expect a refund or appropriate compensation, as my stay was far below the standard I paid for. This situation was not just inconvenientit was unsanitary and unacceptable.
